8 Villains Wheel Of Time Has Set Up For Future Seasons

0 0

Summary The Wheel of Time has already set up 8 exciting new villains for future seasons.

Storylines from the books and events in the show hint at which villains will be included in the adaptation, including some of the Forsaken.

The Wheel of Time will likely introduce some of these villains as early as season 3.

The Wheel of Time has already introduced a fair number of villains from the book series, but it has also set up eight massive villains for future seasons. The Wheel of Time is an adaptation of Robert Jordan's fantasy novel series of the same name, and it has become one of the biggest high fantasy series on television. The Wheel of Time season 3 is expected to cover the fourth of Jordan's novels, The Shadow Rising.

The Wheel of Time season 2's ending finishes around the time Jordan's second novel closes in terms of the story, which means the majority of the third novel is glossed over. Still, The Wheel of Time's cast has continued to grow, bringing in as many book characters as possible as the show tries to do justice to Jordan's iconic novels. As the show progresses, it's safe to expect more book characters to be steadily introduced, especially the eight massive villains the show has already set up for future seasons.

8 Sammael — Forsaken Member

Mentioned By Lan In The Wheel Of Time Season 2

Close

His name is mentioned several times in The Wheel of Time season 2 and Ishamael confesses that he freed all the Forsaken before his death, so Sammael is out there somewhere in the show's world.

One of The Wheel of Time's Forsaken who has been set up for an appearance at some point in the show is Sammael. His name is mentioned several times in The Wheel of Time season 2 and Ishamael confesses that he freed all the Forsaken before his death, so Sammael is out there somewhere in the show's world. It seems unlikely that Sammael will play a major role in season 3, considering Moghedien and Asmodean are the clear favorites to be season 3's primary Forsaken. However, Sammael could still appear in some capacity during the upcoming season.

The Wheel of Time is available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

Sammael is far more likely to become a prominent villain in The Wheel of Time season 4 because that's when the show should reach the point in the book series where he emerges as a major threat. Still, it seems likely that Sammael will at least make a cameo in season 3 to set him up for season 4, as the show did with Moghedien in The Wheel of Time season 2's finale. Regardless, the mention of his name in The Wheel of Time season 2 seemingly confirms that his character is bound to appear in the show.

7 Asmodean — Forsaken Member

Appears In Statue Form In The Wheel Of Time Season 1

Close

At the end of The Shadow Rising — the fourth book in Jordan's series and the one being adapted in The Wheel of Time season 3 — Rand and Asmodean have one of the book series' most epic duels, so the hope is that this moment will be included in season 3.

Although some villains are being cut from The Wheel of Time, one small detail from season 1 seemingly confirms that Asmodean will be one of the Forsaken included in the show's version of events. The detail comes in the form of a set of small statues of the Forsaken, one of which appears to be holding some sort of lute or other stringed instrument. Asmodean is famous for his obsession with music, and since no other Forsaken has any connection to music or instruments, this statue must be meant to depict Asmodean.

It's important to note that The Wheel of Time only includes eight statues of the Forsaken, implying that five of the thirteen villains will be cut from the show.

Further, Rand has clearly been set up to journey into the Aiel Waste during The Wheel of Time season 3, which is where he meets Asmodean in the books. At the end of The Shadow Rising — the fourth book in Jordan's series and the one being adapted in The Wheel of Time season 3 — Rand and Asmodean have one of the book series' most epic duels, so the hope is that this moment will be included in season 3. Even if not, however, Asmodean seems certain to appear in the show soon.

6 Graendal — Forsaken Member

Lanfear Calls Graendal A Vain Idiot In The Wheel Of Time Season 2

Close

The Forsaken are not known for getting along, so Lanfear's insult doesn't come as a surprise, but it does confirm that Graendal is at least in The Wheel of Time show's plans.

Graendal is set up for future seasons of The Wheel of Time when Lanfear mentions her name in a conversation with Ishamael during The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 5, going so far as to call her fellow villain a, "vain idiot." The Forsaken are not known for getting along, so Lanfear's insult doesn't come as a surprise, but it does confirm that Graendal is at least in The Wheel of Time show's plans. When Graendal will appear, however, is another question entirely.

After being mentioned in season 2, it's definitely possible that Graendal appears as early as The Wheel of Time season 3. However, if she does appear, it's likely to be in a relatively minor role. Based on the direction the show is heading in, Moghedien, Rahvin, and Asmodean are the most likely Forsaken to play a major antagonistic role in season 3, which leaves little room for Graendal to operate. Even if she doesn't appear in season 3, however, Lanfear's mention of her confirms that she is part of the show's plans.

5 Elaida Do Avriny a'Roihan — Aes Sedai Of The Red Ajah

Known For Deposing Siuan Sanche As Amyrlin Seat

Close

Considering Elaida is introduced in the books as Morgase's advisor in Caemlyn, it suddenly seems far more likely that the red sister will be included.

It looked initially like Elaida might not be part of the show's plans, but two Wheel of Time season 3 castings have resparked hope that Elaida will appear in the show's continuity. The castings in question are those of Queen Morgase Trakand and Galad Damodred, and their inclusion being confirmed makes it extremely likely that a Wheel of Time season 3 story arc will take place in the Andoran capital city of Caemlyn. Considering Elaida is introduced in the books as Morgase's advisor in Caemlyn, it suddenly seems far more likely that the red sister will be included.

Further, the roles of a few actors that have been cast for The Wheel of Time season 3 have not been revealed by Amazon, prompting speculation that one of these actors could be playing Elaida. However, even if Elaida is included, it's difficult to know if her role will match the one she plays in the books. Elaida's most important role in the books is deposing Siuan Sanche as Amyrlin Seat, leading to the White Tower schism, but The Wheel of Time has hinted that Liandrin could take that role in the show's continuity.

4 Mazrim Taim — Saldean False Dragon

Appointed By Rand To Lead The Asha'man

Close

Taim, of course, turns out to be one of the most formidable villains in the entire series, even joining the ranks of the Forsaken under the moniker of M'hael.

Mazrim Taim is another character whose name being mentioned during The Wheel of Time season 2 has seemingly confirmed their inclusion. Taim is mentioned by Liandrin as a powerful new False Dragon in Saldea during season 2's premiere, and his name is brought up in a similar context by Ihvon during the next episode. With that in mind, Taim is all but assured of a major role in the show, but it's hard to say exactly when he'll arrive, especially considering how much there already is to cover in The Wheel of Time season 3.

Taim is one of the most powerful channelers ever in The Wheel of Time books, sitting one step below Rand, Ishamael, and Rahvin in The Wheel of Time Companion book's One Power strength rankings.

It will also be interesting to see how the show handles Taim, as he is originally an ally to Rand in the books, even if there is always something sinister about him hinting at his true nature. Taim, of course, turns out to be one of the most formidable villains in the entire series, even joining the ranks of the Forsaken under the moniker of M'hael. Taim also participates in one of the very best duels during The Last Battle, so it's encouraging that he's on track to be included in the show.

3 Rahvin — Forsaken Member

Disguises Himself As Lord Gaebril

Close

Rand and Rahvin's duel also leads to one of the most shocking and uplifting twists in the book series, so Rahvin's involvement would be a huge boost for the show.

The introduction of Queen Morgase and Galad provides some hope that Elaida could still appear in The Wheel of Time, but it all but confirms that Rahvin will be included. There's no guarantee that Rahvin will be included considering how many of the Forsaken are being cut, but with the show set to introduce Morgase, Rahvin will almost certainly appear shortly thereafter. In the books, Rahvin is introduced as a charming Andoran lord under the guise of Lord Gaebril, but it's quickly revealed that he is a Forsaken using Compulsion to control Morgase.

Rahvin is the only channeler in the books who is as strong as Rand al'Thor and Ishamael/Moridin.

Morgase eventually figures out what's happening in the books and fleas Caemlyn, paving the way for Elayne to become the next Queen of Andor, so Rahvin's meddling is probably too important for The Wheel of Time to gloss over. Further, Rand has an incredible duel with Rahvin in the Royal Palace of Caemlyn during book five, and it would be a shame if that was omitted from the show. Rand and Rahvin's duel also leads to one of the most shocking and uplifting twists in the book series, so Rahvin's involvement would be a huge boost for the show.

2 Slayer — Darkfriend

Also Known As Lord Luc Or Isam

Close

Slayer is a fascinating character in The Wheel of Time books, created by the Dark One's merging of two souls: Luc Mantear and Isam Mandragoran.

With The Wheel of Time season 3 adapting The Shadow Rising, Perrin Aybara is expected to journey back home to the Two Rivers where he will protect his village from White Cloaks, trollocs, and his primary antagonist for the remainder of the series, Slayer. Slayer is a fascinating character in The Wheel of Time books, created by the Dark One's merging of two souls: Luc Mantear and Isam Mandragoran. Little is known about how exactly their souls were merged, but Slayer seems to be capable of portraying himself as Luc or Isam.

Before being merged into Slayer, Luc Mantear was Rand al'Thor's uncle and Isam Mandragoran was Lan Mandragoran's cousin.

However, the real Slayer seems to be something separate from either Luc or Isam. He seems to have some of the abilities of a wolfbrother, such as entering Tel'aran'rhiod at will and exerting impressive control over it. However, he also delights in killing the souls of wolves within Tel'aran'rhiod, hence the name Slayer. While there's no guarantee that Slayer will be involved in The Wheel of Time season 3, it would be shocking if he didn't appear in the show at all, considering the massive role he has in Perrin's arc.

1 Couladin — Shaido Aiel

Declares Himself The Car'a'carn

Close

Couladin fakes having dragon tattoos on both forearms after entering Rhuidean — one of the telltale signs of the Dragon's return — presenting himself as a False Dragon.

One villain who looks ready not just to appear in The Wheel of Time, but to play a major role in season 3, is Couladin. When Rand travels into the Aiel Waste in the books, he struggles to convince all the Aiel that he's the true Dragon Reborn, or Car'a'carn as they refer to him, and Couladin becomes the focal point of Aiel opposition to Rand's rule. Couladin fakes having dragon tattoos on both forearms after entering Rhuidean — one of the telltale signs of the Dragon's return — presenting himself as a False Dragon.

While Rand is able to convince the majority of the Aiel to side with him, Couladin and his clan, the Shaido, break off from the others and cross the Spine of the World to attack Cairhien. This conflict spills into the next book, so Couladin could easily become a multi-season villain in The Wheel of Time. It's important that Rand faces some sort of opposition from the Aiel for the sake of realism and fidelity to the source material, so it would be a shock if Couladin wasn't included in the show.
