Promoting interagency consistency, creating transparency, adjusting lending performance standards, while encouraging public involvement for accountability are some of the changes to the Community Reinvestment Act that are going to ensure federally insured banks are meeting the credit needs of the communities in which they do business, especially LMI communities. (FTB News Release (February 27, 2024)) The FTB’s announcement noted that the postponement includes passthrough entity elective tax payments due on March 15, 2024.For any given Emergency Measure or Major Disaster Declaration that triggers IRS tax relief or filing/payment postponement in California, the state will evaluate each filing or payment postponement in response to a declaration or emergency on a case-by-case basis. Housing is critical to anyone's survival, which is why fair housing is so important. Sadly, justice impacted people are not given this same protection. Even with more than enough money, we are often denied rental after rental and either redlined into high crime areas or denied housing altogether and forced into homelessness. How can we expect someone to make a successful reentry if we cannot offer them affordable housing in a safe community where they can thrive? And how does denying someone safe housing serve any public safety goal? #WeDeserveFairHousingToo
