Part of Your World Series

Do Abby Jimenez’s Books Have to Be Read in Order?

The best practice is to read Abby Jimenez’s books in order within her two series.

Abby’s first three books are all considered part to be part of The Friend Zone series: The Friend Zone (Book #1), The Happily Ever After Playlist (Book #2), and Life’s Too Short (Book #3). The best practice would be to read these three in order. However, you really just need to read The Happily Ever After Playlist after The Friend Zone because book #2 picks up where the first book left off. Life’s Too Short feels like a standalone but does have brief scenes and mentions of familiar faces from books #1 & #2, which would spoil some plot points of those two.

Part of Your World is the first installment in Abby’s latest series and can be read as a standalone. Abby’s latest book, Yours Truly, should be read after reading Part of Your World, as it picks up after the conclusion of Part of Your World and contains spoilers for that book.

About Each of Abby Jimenez’s Books

The Friend Zone

The Friend Zone is Book #1 in The Friend Zone series. I had the fun experience of reading this book when it was Abby’s debut novel, so I’ve gotten to follow her catalog as it was released. I loved The Friend Zone! Generally, I read romance books because I feel like they are easy to read and a lighthearted escape from day-to-day life.

Overall, I was so happy with The Friend Zonestruck and how it struck a great balance of humorous moments and real-world issues individuals and couples face.

Although I really enjoyed this title, please note that a recurring plot point in this novel involves infertility, so this book won’t be the best pick for everyone.

Plot:

Kristen Petersen meets and begins to fall in love with Josh Copeland, the best man in her best friend’s upcoming wedding. But she keeps him at arms-length, believing that due to an upcoming medical procedure that would leave her unable to have children, a relationship with Josh, a man who wants a large family, would be impossible. When tragedy strikes, they are forced to reevaluate the future together.

The Happily Ever After Playlist

The Happily Ever After Playlist is Book #2 in The Friend Zone series and picks up shortly after where Book #1 left off. While I was thrilled to be getting Sloan’s story after coming to care about her in Book #1, this title is my least favorite of Abby’s books.

Like all of Abby’s books, this one has great, well-developed characters. I felt like the plot drug on a bit, whereas I’ve flown through all her other books.

Plot:

Sloan has been dealing with loss and grief for two years when a much-needed change falls into her lap – literally. Tucker, an energetic dog, jumps through Sloan’s sunroof into her car and shakes up her routines in the best way. After weeks of being unable to get in touch with Tucker’s owner, Sloan decides to keep her new furry friend until Jason enters the picture. Jason is Tucker’s owner, who has been on tour overseas when he realizes his dog has been taken care of by Sloan in his absence. An unlikely friendship develops between the pair, but will Jason actually stick around, or will his career take him away from Sloan?

Life’s Too Short

Don’t think just because a book is fiction that, it can’t change your life! Life’s Too Short, Book #3 in The Friend Zone series, is actually part of a catalyst that inspired me to make some life changes and document doing so by creating this blog.

I love the characters in this book and the overall message of making time for the things that matter the most!

Plot:

Vanessa is an internet-famous Youtuber who has temporary custody over her half-sister’s infant daughter when she meets her attractive neighbor Adrian. Adrian is a workaholic lawyer who is amazed by Vanessa’s vibrant personality and ability to live in the moment. Despite their different personalities, they find their friendship and attraction growing the more time they spend together, but Vanessa worries that health problems that run in her family will doom them from having a successful relationship.

Part of Your World

Part of Your World is the first installment of the Part of Your World Series. This book was one of my favorite reads of 2022. I flew through this book! I laughed out loud at times and teared up and others.

Part of Your World truly is everything I could ask for in a rom-com and would make a great introduction to Abby’s work if you have not previously read one of her books.

Plot:

Alexis Montgomery’s world is turned upside down after a carpenter comes to her rescue when her car breaks down in his small town. Alexis is a doctor and a city girl from a wealthy family. Daniel is a self-made man who is ten years younger than Alexis. With all their differences, Alexis initially believes there’s no way she and Daniel could have a lasting relationship. Still, as they spend more time together, she begins to doubt her reservations and her long-held beliefs about her place in the world.

Yours Truly

Yours Truly is Book #2 of the Part of Your World Series and follows Briana, who is introduced as Alexis’ best friend in Book #1. I enjoyed getting to know Bri more in this book. Plus, Jacob was such a likable male lead! While I didn’t love this one quite as much as Part of Your World due to the miscommunication towards the end, it still was a solid romance read.

Like with all of Abby’s books, Yours Truly has characters I won’t soon forget, as well as a good dose of humor that perfectly balances the delicate handling of sensitive topics the main characters navigate.

Plot:

Lately, life has been rough for Briana Ortiz, an ER doctor who is navigating a divorce while caring for her little brother, who is on dialysis as he waits for a kidney transplant. Things go from bad to worse for Briana when Dr. Jacob Maddox joins the hospital and threatens her chance of promotion. Just when Briana is ready to hate Jacob based on a terrible first impression, he sends Briana a letter that begins to change everything.
