What happens if you never return a Redbox movie? ›

For each day you keep a rental, you'll be charged for another rental period + applicable tax. If you hold onto your disc for the maximum rental period (in most areas, it's 17 days), you'll be charged the maximum charge and the disc is yours to keep.

Non Redbox+ Members: Return your disc to any Box location before 9:00 pm the day after you reserve or rent. Returns after 9:00 pm will be subject to another nightly rental fee. Redbox+ Members: Return your disc to any Box location before 11:59 pm the day after you reserve or rent.

Our rental fees are charged per night: DVDs - $2.25. Blu-Ray - $2.25. 4K UHD - $2.50.

If you don't return the rental, you'll be charged at the end of its maximum rental period.

If you see multiple charges for a transaction, please validate the following: Has your financial institution removed the authorization hold which would be dated for the time the rental occurred. Is this a partial collection from an outstanding transaction?

You can purchase previously rented movies at select boxes. At the Box - select Buy Movies on the main page. If you don't see this option, then currently we don't have movies for sale at that particular box. Online - visit https://www.redbox.com and select 'Movies to Own' under At the Box.

On your first visit to Redbox (or the first time you use a new payment card at Redbox), you can rent a maximum of 3 discs. Customers who have rented from Redbox before can rent a maximum of 5 discs.

Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they'd like and return it to any one of redbox's 24,900 kiosks nationwide. After 25 nights, rental charges cease and the DVD is the customer's to keep.

A credit card or debit card is required to rent movies, even if you are using a promo code / Redbox Perks.

It's because of the first sale doctrine. Redbox and family video can buy DVDs and Blu-Rays (at a maximum) at the same price as consumer DVD/Blu-Ray--and rent them out without permission from the copyright holder. That means video rental stores can undercut the VOD prices.

You can purchase a replacement case from any box for the cost of a 1-day DVD rental. Just scroll through the DVD list and look for replacement case at the end.

We recover dispute charges from you, and we will therefore make contact with to try and resolve the customer dispute. This means we will need to provide evidence to the card issuer, they will then decide if it's legitimate and the dispute will be worn or lost accordingly.

If the disc does not play properly after cleaning it, please email customerservice@redbox.com and our Customer Care team we will get back to you as soon as possible. Return the disc to our Box (before or after reporting this) to prevent additional nightly rental charges.
