What is the story mode in WoW? ›

One of the more interesting developments to come out of World of Warcraft's The War Within expansion debuting in August is the introduction of "story mode:" a single-player way to battle the last bosses of the game's raids, so that even solo players can experience the full narrative.

Players need to be at least level 10 to join a raid group, though actual raid instances begin at level 30.

2024's launch of the WoW: The War Within expansion is the first of a multi-expansion storyline that World of Warcraft will be telling over the next few years to celebrate its 20th Anniversary.
