Top-Rated Travel CPAP Machines: Portable, Mini, & Lightweight (2024)

Designed with traveling in mind, these small, portable travel CPAP machines are a dreamy option for bringing your therapy with you, so you never miss a great night's sleep—no matter where you are! These mini CPAP devices are perfectly equipped to provide you the same quality therapy at-home or on-the-go, which can save you a lot of time and money.

What Is a Travel CPAP Machine?

A travel CPAP machine is a simple, small, and lightweight device that’s designed to fit into your luggage, backpacks, or purses.

A travel CPAP provides the same benefits and level of functionality that a standard CPAP machine offers in a much smaller package. You’ll enjoy many of the same comfort features that your regular machine has, such as:

  • Ramp
  • Auto Start/Stop
  • and Exhalation Pressure Relief

Some models, such as ResMed’s AirMini, offer waterless humidification without the bulky design of traditional CPAP humidifiers. Travel CPAP machines can be run on a battery pack the size of a small notebook for one to two full nights, expanding your ability to go off-the-grid for camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities.

Advantages of Portable CPAP Machines

Portable CPAP machines aren't just great for travel. You can use these devices anywhere you want—even at home. Travel machines are extremely convenient thanks to their ability to run off of battery power. Some battery packs even offer solar charging solutions, such as the EXP96 Pro. When you use a lithium-ion battery to power your CPAP machine, you can expect your power source to last between 8 and 12 hours. However, using your portable CPAP machine with a heated humidifier or other accessories will use your battery's charge much faster.

Despite their small size, travel CPAP devices are surprisingly capable and quiet. All travel CPAP machines are tested and approved for everyday use in the comfort of your home. Thus, if you like the simplicity and size of your portable CPAP, you can use it at home too! Many of the latest and most innovative options in portable CPAP machines are almost as quiet as their full-sized counterparts, allowing even the lightest sleepers to use a travel CPAP.

Aside from convenience, another perk of travel size CPAPs is being able to use the same mask setup you’re accustomed to. Depending on the travel machine, you’ll either connect your standard hose directly to the machine, or to an adapter that will connect to your machine. We even sell a collapsible hose for added travel convenience. In the past, you could only use a handful of proprietary masks with the ResMed AirMini, but thanks to the Zephair Airmini Universal Hose Adapter, you can now use any mask you’d like!

While travel CPAP machines typically don’t feature an integrated display, they will usually pair with a smartphone app, giving you instant access to your settings menu and sleep data in the palm of your hand.

Z2 Auto Travel CPAP

Works great while traveling

I do a lot of RV camping and don’t like to take my home CPAP because of the size and possible water mess from the humidifier. I always wanted to try a travel CPAP but have never had luck using one without a humidifier. I saw this one provided humidified air without a water chamber and thought I would give it a try. To my surprise, it worked great. Been using it for a week straight while camping at the beach and have had no problems. If you have the same concerns as I did, give this one a try.

AirMini

Love the small size!

I bought this after getting my prescription from my primary care provider to use when we travel. We travel a lot on the motorcycle and the home unit is so big & bulky, plus the fact I need to carry distilled water with me. I read reviews on this brand, which is the same as my home unit, and the reviews were good. It is very small, fits in the palm of my hand, doesn't need water as it uses your breath for moisture through a filtering system. I tried it 2 nights at home to make sure it will work for travel, very quiet, slept good, uses an app to start/stop it, very happy with it.

Transcend 3 Auto miniCPAP

Excellent

This is my second of these. The first one gave out after 6 years or so. It is my daily CPAP, not just travel. I have used them on planes, camping, and in several different countries with different electric systems, all with no problem. Small and quiet. It also doesn't have a zillion settings I don't need.
